Why I Like Commenting On Commentluv Enabled Blogs

I comment on a lot of blogs and my favorite blogs to comment on are the ones that have the commentluv plugin. In this article I’ll share with you why I like commenting on commentluv enabled blogs . As well, I’ll share with you the benefits of this plugin and advantages of commenting on commenluv enabled blogs.

I do a lot of research online and read a number posts every day. Commenting on posts (commentluv or not) that I enjoyed is my way of

  • showing appreciation to the the author for a well written and informative post
  • forming  relationships with other bloggers
  • exposing my blog to new readers

Let me explain a bit about the commentluv and its features that make the blogs with this plugin so attractive. The main feature of this plugin, as the name implies, is to show some love to the commenters on your blog. In other words, by having the plugin on your blog you are able to reward the commenters for stopping by, reading your posts and leaving a comment.

How Commentluv Enabled Blogs Reward Commenters

  • Allow their comment links to be dofollow (on WordPress by default, all comment links are nofoloow). You can set some parameters that will decide when the links become dofollow. For example, the links can become dofollow when a commenter leaves at least 3 comments. Or you can choose to allow the links to become dofollow when the commenter also gives you a LIKE or tweets the posts and so on.
  • Allow keywords in the name field. Again you can use different parameters for allowing keywords.
  • Publish a link to one of the the last 10 posts of the commenter. This feature can also be controlled by you.
  • As well, with on commentluv enabled blog you’ll get two backlinks, one with your name and/or keywords and another to your post specifically.

Commentluv Enabled Blog – Sample Comment

Example Of Commentluv Comment

Commentluv Comment Example

Notice that I was able to use keywords “Blogging Basics” in the name field. As well, the link to one of my 10 latest posts (blue and underlined in red) was allowed.

In addition, the little red heart at the end of the link to my post expands to a window that I set up and one that provides more information about my posts (see below)

Commetluv Promotional Box

Commentluv Hover Box Of Additional Information

If you have commentluv plugin yourself, you can create this box of information that allows you to input your favorite posts as well as you can add links to your promotions. In addition, you can see if anyone else has clicked on the link.

The “Hover Box” is only shown if the commenter has the commentluv plugin on her blog. So this reward is for the marketers with commentluv. Interestingly enough I have been noticing that not too many people who have the plugin have taken advantage of this feature. (in case you have the plugin, but have not set up this panel, you can do it in the Settings, under “Your Info Panel Content”).

There is another reason why I like commentluv enabled blogs. To me they represent a shortcut to finding recent niche related posts. After commenting, I’ll check out the links in other comments. If I’ll find something of interest I will visit the post the comment is linked to. (Actually, some of the post links may not be related to my niche but I will visit the posts if the title in the link piques my interest). This saves me valuable time searching for current niche related blogs.

In addition to the benefits of having a commentluv enabled blog mentioned above, the commentluv plugin offers other functionalities as well.

  • It includes the advanced version of the popular anti spam plugin, G.A.S.P. (Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin). This functionality protects your blog from spam comments from bots.
  • It helps to increase your Twitter followers and help your readers to increase theirs by displaying their twitter name in their comments
  • It sends an email to users when they get a direct reply to their comment. Guest authors are automatically sent an email when someone makes a comment on one of their posts

How To Find Blogs With Commentluv Plugin

To find blogs that are commentluv enabled is pretty simple and finding them should give  you a good start. You can use several versions of input into the search box of your favorite search engine:

  • inurl:blog “wordpress” “commentluv” “your keywords”
  • your keywords “This blog uses premium commentluv”
  • your keywords “This blog uses commentluv”
  • your keywords “This site uses keywordluv” (this is now a function of commentluv+)

Just replace “your keywords” with your own keywords or keyword phrases such as “make money online”, “weight loss”, etc.
Commentluv plugin helps your posts go viral, get more traffic and reward your readers and unlock advanced backlink features on every CommentLuv blog. I see commenting on these blogs as one of very powerful free traffic generating techniques.

Just a word of caution. Do not limit yourself just to commenting on commentluv enabled blogs. Make sure to comment on other blogs as well. You don’t want to have your links appear unnatural. Commenting on non-commentluv blogs provides a variety to your commenting links.

Please make sure to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

I am in the process of reviving my blog and recently started using the commentluv plugin. It has already brought some visitors to my blog and I have had one comment as well. I am also using a plugin called Blogg Buddy to help me find blogs to comment on. It was this plugin that brought me to your blog!

Your post has really helped me understand more about how commentluv works. I haven’t set up the Hover Box information for my blog yet and thanks to your post, I now know how to go about it.

Your blog is a great resource for anyone with a blog and I will be adding a link to it in my blog sidebar for my visitors.

          Hi Roy
when a blog owner receives comments, it is viewed as interaction and engagement of readers with the blog owner. It is viewed positively by search engines.

As well, aside from search engines, it is very gratifying for a blog owner to receive comments. It simply suggests to the writer that it was worthwhile to write and that the article is of use to the readers.

Hello Dita, I have j ust heard about CommentLuv and found your site. Its very comprehensive and has really helped me. I can now discuss getting it installed on my site with my “techie”.

BUT one thing I do not understand is how the link at the bottom of a post is generated ? On your text it is “Blogging Basics with Dita Blogging to Make Money Challenge”

Do I have to explicitely include it with the HTML tags at the end of a post I send to you? Or does it happen some other way?

Sorry if I am missing something obvious and thanks for your article about CommentLuv.

    • Dita Irvine December 6, 2013 at 8:58 am #

      Hi Ruth,

The commentluv plugin automatically enables the links to show when you comment on a commentluv blog. Generally, when you comment 3 times (determined by the owner of the blog), the plugin gives you a choice of one link from up to 10 of you last posts. This is a very cool idea and it is a win win situation both for the commenter and the owner of the blog.

      Hope this helps

I Don’t think Google hates for enabling the dofollow links in the blog comments.Google knows the differentiation of links from the part of the website. You are not going to pay for inclusion of links the comments so it will not get in to the penalty but also increases the value of the website/blogs.So it will provides the value for both commentor and the blog owner. So enabling the commentluv feature blog owners will get benefit of this. Both the Disqus for WordPress plugin and Disqus for Blogger widget automatically sync comments from Disqus back to the site WordPress or Blogger site, respectively. These comments will remain in WordPress and Blogger should Disqus be deactivated or removed.

      Hi Bob,

Hope you will install it soon. It helps tremendously. I have met so many amazing people through commentluv.

Very good point, Dita, about commenting on many different types of blogs instead of just Comment Luv, so your links will look more natural. I just comment on any relevant blog whether CL or not.

I just started using COmmentLuv a few week ago and love it. I knew of it, but never tried it out on my sites. It encourages commenting and helps bring life into your posts. Sometimes the comments are just as valuable as the post.

I have connected with a lot of like-minded bloggers and that is where the true power lies. Yes, the SEO benefits are nice as well.

      Hi Adam,

Unfortunately commentluv is mostly used by bloggers in the broad IM niche. I’ve noticed that bloggers in other niches hardly ever use this plugin. It is a shame.

    Hi Dita,

I stumbled across this post a few days ago, and it is a really great post explaining everything about how Commentluv works. Thank you so much for sharing this!

I recently bought Commentluv premium and it seems to have a lot of features, but I haven’t thought much about all of that till I read your post. Now this plugin is definitely on my must have list and I will install it on all my sites and clients sites in the future.

Keep up the good work 🙂

Comment Luv is great but I am starting to see more and more people using google plus comments. I have got both now on my site so it gives people the option but i am unsure as to whether it is a good thing or not yet. Time will tell i guess.

  72. Helen Huang June 6, 2013 at 5:53 am #

    Hi there,

Whenever I post a comment on a blog with CommentLuv installed, it seems to refresh the page and append a comment ID (number) to the end of the URL. But it never shows a message such as “Your comment is awaiting moderation”… does this mean my comment has been treated as spam? Just curious because I had problems with Akismet regarding me as a spammer and my comments never see the light of day at any blogs I comment on. 🙁

      Hi Helen,

It would seem to me that something is not set up correctly in your settings. If you are not sure, connect with Andy Bailey, the developwr of the plugin. He is an awesome guy and very approachable.

      best of luck,

  73. Kalpit June 3, 2013 at 1:31 pm #

I was really confused if I should install it, because all that penguin stuff primarily. And also though that it might increase spam comments.

But after reading this, I’ve changed my mind. At least, what’s wrong with trying it out once right?

I have to admit that I’ve known about CommentLuv for a while now but never really took advantage of the power of it, or blog comments in general for that matter.

I know a lot of people use blog comments purely for SEO purposes, but they’re missing out on the social value of actually interacting with blog owners and not just running some stupid spambot or hiring idiots to write 100 blog comments per day blah blah blah.

Thanks for reminding me about Growmap too – I’ve spent all day trying to remember its name! lol

    • Dita Irvine May 28, 2013 at 10:09 pm #

      Hi Neil,

you welcome. I really like commenting on other blogs and I am finding that I am forming some pretty neat relationships with other bloggers and that is very important. Luckily, I don’t have much problem with spam as I am “double armed” both with Akismet and the commentluv plugin.

      Take care,

Hye dita. This is really the right place , where i have got thr right information for comment luv . Actually i am using from last some time but have no idea of actual usage . But now it got clear.

Can you tell me one thing dita on comment luv blogs in which formats can we put our name with our keywords Like :

    1.Jose from web design company
    2. Jose@web design company

The formats i have mentioned above , Is it right ?

and if there is any other more , then please tell me . Thanks for sharing great info.

    • Dita Irvine May 27, 2013 at 11:31 pm #

      Hi Jose,

sorry to respond so late. Typically it depends on the blog. Some blogs will not allow you to place the @ and keywords until you have at least 3 posts approved.

If it is possible, you would use Jose @ keywords. You need to place a space between your name and the keywords.

      Hope this helps,

Hey Dita, great advice on CommentLuv and quite honestly I think you use it more extensively than I do! 😉

CommentLuv has a lot of great advantages and Andy (the developer) seems to want to include even more goodies inside it.

With this plugin I already managed to get rid of at least four or five different plugins I was using in the past so it’s definitely one of those rare MUST HAVE plugins in every wordpress site.

Great review and solid advice Dita!

      Hi Sergio,

Thanks for stopping by. For me it is a must have plugin. I believe that Andy Bailey is thinking of changing the price structure such that it is more affordable for people who would like to have it but cannot afford it at this time.

  81. SandyHalliday May 14, 2013 at 4:25 pm #

    Hi Dita,

The CommentLuv plugin was very popular at one time but some bloggers have uninstalled it because of the fears of broken links in the comments causing problems with their SEO.

Fortunately Andy Bailey, the creator of the plugin, has recenlty come up with the CommentLuv Link Cleaner plugin which solves the problem of broken comment links that are not detected by regular link checker plugins.

I’m glad I did not panic and uninstall CommentLuv as it does encourage the interaction and engagement on blogs that Google loves so much.

    Hi Dita

I wouldn’t be without CommentLuv on my blog.

I really like the fact that it gives something back to the people who do comment.

I don’t use KeywordLuv however as I prefer the Name field to just be a name. My preference though, not for any other reason.

    Hi Dita,

This is an excellent, useful post, I enjoyed it very much.

For anyone who doesn’t currently use CommentLuv this post provides a great synopsis of the plugin and you highlight the benefits and its usefulness very well indeed.

I especially like how you talked about keywords. This is a feature that I haven’t used yet, mainly because I haven’t really been clear on how to use it properly. But your simple explanation shows how simple it really is. So I shall try doing it in this comment and hope that it works OK 🙂
